Karina Loyo, Ph.D., MBA, is a distinguished expert in aging and health promotion with over three decades of experience as a researcher, project manager, and marketer. She is a passionate Longevity Planner and Senior Home Coach™, dedicated to helping others live their best lives. Dr. Loyo is a founding member of the Senior Home Coach Network, the largest international movement focused on helping seniors age safely in a home that supports their changing needs.

She earned her PhD in Health Promotion and Gerontology from the University of Texas, and holds an MBA and BFA from Texas State University. Among her notable achievements are contributing to The Strategic Plan for Prevention of Obesity in Texas 2005-2010, collaborating with the CDC on cardiovascular prevention, and supporting research that led to nine FDA-approved medications or medical devices. She was recognized in 2013 by the Society of Health Promotion and Health Education with the Sarah Mazelis Paper of the Year award.

When she’s not advancing the field of health promotion, Dr. Loyo enjoys spending time with her family, leading a Girl Scout troop, and advocating for seniors. She is also an enthusiastic micro learner, and delights in crocheting her signature Octopi, spreading joy and inspiring others with her message: “Let love Octopi your heart.”

Dr. Loyo has published 4 peer reviewed articles on a variety of health topics from health and wellness corporate programs to an award-wining article describing the use of a national CVD model to mobilize the community.

FDA Approved Pharmaceutical & Medical Devices

As a Certified Clinical Data Manager, Dr. Loyo collaborated on more than 50 clinical research studies to ensure quality data capture, data integrity, and the appropriate development of online data collection systems. This research has resulted in the FDA approval of 9 pharmaceutical and medical devices.

Using her expertise in survey development, research, and electronic data capture systems, Dr. Loyo collaborated on more than 50 clinical research studies for both human and animal health. Her role was to ensure quality data collection, survey and form design, and data integrity.
